Maintenance Fitter

About the opportunity
As a Maintenance Fitter, you are an integral part of the team and are responsible for providing hands on practical mechanical engineering expertise as well as leading assigned tasks and projects for the Pulp division to ensure that all engineering functions for the division are maintained for optimal performance. In your role you will have a strong focus on plant reliability to ensure this, you will assist with resolving all mechanical breakdowns and failures to minimise production downtime and actively participate in preventative maintenance strategies. You will also monitor and review plant performance and current processes to identify efficiencies and process improvement opportunities to enhance the reliability of our site. This role is a day position and based at our Whirinaki site, 15 minutes north of Napier.

About you
A successful applicant will ideally have the following attributes:

Loves problem solving
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
Proactive and willing to take ownership of any issues that arise
Able to prioritise tasks
Able to work cohesively as an integral member of a small shift team
Strong health and safety focus
Able to sustain a high level of energy and composure.
Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
Experience in diagnostics and fault-finding
Sound knowledge of engineering principles, standards and procedures
Strong work ethic with a proactive can-do attitude
NZQA Level 4 Mechanical Engineering Trade Certificate (or similar) is preferred
