Salary: $169,590 - $224,313 per annum + laptop and mobile

About the Ministry of Transport | He kupu mo matou Te Manatu Waka
The Ministry of Transport, Te Manatu Waka is the system leader for the transport sector whether it's on land, at sea, in the air, or connecting Aotearoa to the world. We work in partnership with a number of transport agencies to help keep the transport system moving and are the government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment. We play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders.
About the opportunity | Nga whakamarama mo te tunga
The NZSAR Secretariat team at the Ministry of Transport operates as the NZSAR Council's agent and operating arm and provides coordination and support services to the NZSAR Council. The NZSAR Council has recently updated its purpose and strategic plan, which has resulted in changes to the team's role and functions. The Council is chaired by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Transport and its membership is made up of Chief Executive and senior leaders at Maritime New Zealand, New Zealand Police, Civil Aviation Authority, New Zealand Defence, Department of Conservation, Fire Emergency New Zealand, and an independent member representing search and rescue NGOs.
As the NZSAR Transition Manager you will ensure business continuity and support the NZSAR Council with next steps in relation to their new purpose and strategic plan. This includes providing strategic advice to the Council and the Ministry's senior leadership on assessing and transitioning the Secretariat's existing work, developing recommendations on the future operating of the Secretariat within the Ministry, and leading the NZSAR team through this period of transition.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely together with the NZSAR Council and the wider search and rescue sector to help deliver the successful transition of the Council's new purpose and strategic plan.
What you'll bring | Te wahi ki a koe
- Experience leading organisational change and/or transition implementation programmes from within the public sector
- Significant project or programme management experience
- Strong influencing and engagement skills, ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups at all levels, while managing expectations
- Skilled in analysing the change effort and leading and facilitating change effectively, ensuring buy-in across all key stakeholder groups
- Experience leading teams through ambiguity, uncertainty and change
- The ability to effectively deal with ambiguity, including shifting gears quickly and comfortably and identifying and managing risk effectively
- Sound analysis, judgement and decision-making skills, including political acumen.
Salary range | Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau
The salary band for this position is $169,590 - $224,313 per annum (+ Kiwi Saver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
