Are you ready to make a difference for our local district specialist mental health and addiction services?
MHAIDS is undertaking a change in the way we deliver mental health and addiction services across the district. We are looking for people who are innovative and passionate about leading people and have a strong grounding in mental health and addiction services in a New Zealand context.
As part of this change, we are looking for an Operations Manager, After Hours District and Hospital Operations, Mental Health and Addiction Services. The ideal candidate will:
  • Be comfortable working in a changing environment
  • Believes in integrated care and local community development
  • Can demonstrate experience in working closely with tāngata whaiora and whanau to deliver person-directed specialised mental health and addiction services.
  • Be able to demonstrate a commitment to equity and improving outcomes for people that focuses on the vision of care closer to home.

Supporting staff and working closely with internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of your work, alongside the day to day running of your service and functions while managing any issues and risks that may arise. You will be supported by a dedicated project team and will be working with like-minded people who are passionate about the change.

The Local Adult Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service is implementing a vision, principles and future model of care that is integrated, culturally responsive, equitable across the district and aligned with national and local directions. Over the next 12 months, we will be moving to a locality development. The Local Specialist Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services are delivered from three identified localities (Wellington City, Kapiti-Porirua, Hutt Valley-Wairarapa), to provide the specialist mental health and addiction treatment for tāngata whaiora who live in each locality.
Each locality will consist of clinicians and support staff who contribute to the functions that align with their capabilities, training, and expertise. -
The Operations Manager for the After Hours District and Hospital Operations, Mental Health and Addiction Services is a management role that works alongside the Operations Manager, Acute Inpatient Services After Hours District Hospital Function, Group Manager and Clinical Director of the Mental Health & Addiction Service, and key external stakeholders to deliver care to tāngata whaiora and whānau who require intensive specialist mental health and addiction support 24/7. - -

The Operations Manager for this service is responsible for:
  • MHAIDS Operations Centre Staff
  • MHAIDS Casual Pool
  • After Hours Medical Rostering
  • Regional Acute Day Service (RADS)
  • Mental Health Needs Assessment and Service Coordination
Moū - About you
You will have:
  • A relevant tertiary level business qualification or equivalent in health leadership
  • A clinical qualification
  • Professional registration and current APC
  • Committed to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori whānau
  • Held a senior role of this nature in the health sector, preferably in the mental health and addiction sector
  • Extensive knowledge and perspective of Mental Health, Addiction and/or Intellectual Disability service delivery
  • Operated within a complex environment, including meeting the needs of multiple services at the same time
  • Experience of managing a business/operation effectively
  • Has knowledge of health service data and analytics, and able to use this to predict capacity and demand and flex to manage this
