About the role
We're looking for a Payroll Officer to join our Finance team for a 6-month fixed term contract. Based in our Auckland office, this role can be either full time or part time (30 hours p/w). Reporting to the Finance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Process end-to-end payroll for 250+ employees which includes full-time, part-time and casual employees.
- Act as a liaison between the Finance team, People & Culture team, external payroll provider and the business to enable operational efficiencies to payroll processes and business operations across the business.
- Maintain and ensure people data is accurate, following up with individuals for information and ensuring timesheets are completed on time.
- Proactively analyse, identify, and respond to potential compliance/legal issues present in operational processes and make recommendations for improvement that meet relevant legislative requirements.
- Provide regular analysis and reporting on employee related data to support business decisions and ensure compliance with IRD filing and payroll-related legislation.
- Build strong key stakeholder relationships and manage any system queries, investigating and resolving issues that arise and following processes.
- Be involved with various payroll system and process improvement projects that may arise from time to time.
- 3+ years end-to-end payroll experience within similar size organisations (200+ employees).
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand legislation and statutory requirements.
- IRD & ACC knowledge.
- Technical competence and highly organised, you will have an analytical mind-set coupled with strong attention to detail.
- Enjoyment for taking ownership and demonstrating problem solving skills, assisting others, and working collaboratively, whilst building effective relationships.
- You will not shy away from taking initiative, completing tasks in a timely manner and working confidently with data to draw conclusions for reports and analysis.
- Report writing and making data meaningful for stakeholders, with a natural curiosity for trends etc.
- Strong problem solving capabilities and management of multiple, often competing, priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office and intermediate excel skills.
- Proficiency in payroll software (MYOB Pay Global and Deltek experience is advantageous.)
