Sample Reception/ Entry Level Technician

THE ROLE
A fixed term position is available for a Sample Reception/Entry Level Laboratory Technician in the Auckland Asbestos analysis team.
This role is 40 hours a week between the hours of 7am - 7pm, Monday to Friday.
The role will be quite varied and will include a range of laboratory administration and reception duties, along with some sample preparation. Some lifting will be required in this role.
We are looking for a reliable, energetic, hard-working person with the ability to work well in a small and close-knit team environment.
Key focus of the role
The primary duty for this role is around sample reception but can include other laboratory duties as required by the team.
Responsibilities Include:

Conducting lab administration duties to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients
Greeting customers in person at reception and liaising with laboratory staff
Carrying out sample reception duties, including the receipt and registration using our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Forwarding samples to other Hill sites
Calibration & Maintenance of equipment
Preparation of Samples
General admin and laboratory tasks as required by the team

Experience and skills

Good attitude to learn and develop, is reliable, punctual, conscientious and able to work as part of a team as well as independently
Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills
Ability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary
Key attention to detail
May have a tertiary qualification in science or relevant discipline, however this is not essential
