The Opportunity:
In this well-established role, reporting to the Charge Clinical Pharmacy Manager, the Senior Clinical Pharmacist will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clinical areas such as orthopaedics, general surgery, head and neck, ICU and cardiothoracics. There will also be opportunity to hold or develop a specialist portfolio in an area of interest such as analgesic stewardship, antimicrobial stewardship, head and neck / upper GI surgery, and/or education and training. This full-time position, scheduled from Monday to Friday, will also entail weekend responsibilities and on-call duties as part of the role. Part time applicants will also be considered.
In this fast paced, dynamic role, you will be responsible for:
- Working in collaboration with the Charge Clinical Pharmacy Manager and clinical team to develop consistent pharmacy services across the organisation
- Participation in the delivery of specialised education across the organisation
- The delivery of specialised clinical pharmacy services and medicines management as part of your agreed portfolio within a multidisciplinary team
- Supporting the broader clinical pharmacy team to deliver service across the organisation, particularly rotational pharmacists and students, in their learning and professional growth
- Initiatives for enhancing quality, updating guidelines, protocols, and policies tailored to your specialist portfolio
- Providing advice and support to the organisation in relation to medication and pharmacy capabilities and system workflows
- Ensuing best practice guidelines regarding medication safety are built into workflows for improved patient outcomes and enhanced patient experience
- Participation in project management, innovation and implementation of new services (like an EMR!)
- A NZ qualified Pharmacist with current APC
- A minimum of three years of clinical pharmacy experience would be considered ideal
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with the team
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to forge excellent relationships with colleagues and patients
- Available to work 40 hours per week with some weekend/on-call shifts
