Service Desk Officer

About the role
Are you an IT enthusiast with a knack for problem-solving and a friendly, engaging personality? We are looking for someone just like you to join our collaborative, customer-focused IT team on a fixed-term basis for six months to cover parental leave. As a Service Desk Officer, you’ll be the go-to person for ensuring the availability, reliability, and business continuity of all our systems and applications across the Kapiti region, from Paekakariki to Otaki.
In this role, you’ll provide both on-site and remote support to our business users, making sure they have the assistance they need, whenever they need it. If you have excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of Microsoft operating environments and application suites, and the ability to build strong working relationships, we want to hear from you!
Skills and Experience

At least 2 years of experience in a relevant capacity.
Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service (i.e. willingness to, and capability for, working with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation).
Demonstrated good verbal communication skills i.e. ability to explain technical jargon in easily understood 'lay' terms.
Experience in management of Service Desk tools (i.e. Manage Engine Service Desk).
Ability to prioritise work requests and follow-up issues according to Council business requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, pay attention to detail, and remain results focused.
Understanding of the Microsoft operating environment, including Active Directory, Entra (Azure), and the Microsoft Application suite.
Ability to share knowledge, and motivate others to use and enhance their knowledge and skills of new technology.
Experience working effectively in a team environment.
Holder of a current and valid NZ Drivers' licence.
