A recent restructure has seen us combine the activities of sustainability and waste into one team. We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability and Waste Team Leader to join our Infrastructure business unit, which is part of our Operations Group.
The Operations Group, is a diverse group responsible for the efficient and effective management of Council’s infrastructure services (land transport services, three waters, asset management, sustainability and waste management) and delivery of a range of compliance and consenting services - including technical policy support, advice, land use and building consents, so that the growth aspirations of council and the community can be satisfied. This multi-disciplinary group also has responsibility for our organisational customer services and city-wide emergency management functions.

Excellent team leadership, relationship building and problem-solving skills.
A flexible 'hands on' approach to undertaking a wide range of work that may be required in connection with the sustainability and waste portfolio.
Ability to coordinate, develop and implement Council responses to relevant legislative changes and emerging issues that may affect sustainability and waste policies, strategic direction, or capability.
Excellent communication and organisational skills including report writing, accurate record keeping and managing budgets.
Provide high quality, clear, consistent advice and subject-matter-expertise on relevant sustainability and waste matters and activities.
Strong project and/or programme management abilities and experience (ideally within the waste, sustainability or environmental sector).
Educated to degree level or with a comparative vocational qualification, or with a proven track record in a relevant field.
