Pexip is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and people centric Engineering Manager to lead our Software Development Team. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, willingness to gain leadership skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
This role is geared towards junior/mid-level developers wanting to gain people management experience and step into a Team Lead position. As a member of our team, you will be leading the developers and product managers based in Norway, UK and Sweden, and sharing responsibility for the continuous running and improvement of our products.
We have a hybrid work environment within Pexip to encourage a better work life balance. Work location is our HQ at Lysaker, Oslo.
Role and Responsibilities
At its core, our engineering team ensures that our products not only meet our customers' needs but also provide them with delight. To achieve this, our team regularly collaborates with other teams that maintain close relationships with customers. Additionally, we conduct ongoing research and usability testing.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have experience in the following:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality within the development team.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective collaboration.
- Recruitment and Retention: Participate in the hiring process to attract top talent and develop strategies to retain and grow team members.
Require Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-5+ years of experience in software development
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Type Script and React and experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing software development team or have the drive to learn to lead.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing software development projects from inception to delivery.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully overcoming technical and operational challenges.
