We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our innovative team at FLIR Unmanned Aerial Systems AS. In this crucial role, you will be the bridge between our advanced technology and our global customer base. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex technical information about our products into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create Comprehensive Documentation: Develop, write, and maintain technical manuals, user guides, installation instructions, and other documents that accurately reflect the functionalities of our products.
- Manage Documentation System: Establish and oversee our document handling system to ensure all materials are current, easily accessible, and comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Adhere to Publication Standards: Utilize technical publication standards such as S1000D to ensure consistency, compliance, and interoperability in all documentation.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineers, product developers, and customer support teams to gather detailed product information and ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Simplify Complex Concepts: Break down advanced technological concepts into understandable content for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Ensure Quality and Consistency: Review and edit content for clarity, grammar, and formatting, maintaining a consistent tone and style across all documentation.
- Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest developments in unmanned aerial systems, technical writing best practices, and publication standards to continually improve our documentation quality.
- Support Product Development: Provide feedback and suggestions to the product team based on user interactions and documentation insights.
Who You Are:
- You have exceptional written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- You possess a strong understanding of advanced technological concepts, preferably in the field of unmanned aerial systems or related technologies.
- Your meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy and consistency in all documentation.
- You can manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and are proactive in seeking information and solutions.
- You work well in a team environment and can effectively collaborate with various departments.
- Proficiency or experience using technical publication standards like S1000D is desirable.
- Experience from the military or working with military customers is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in technical writing or a related field.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and software.
- Experience in developing and managing document handling systems.
- Proficiency or experience with technical publication standards.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Other Information:
The daily work location is Hvalstad, with possibilities for home office/remote work by agreement.
