DGA is the industry leader in managed grazing dairy education and workforce training through our Apprenticeship. As we continue to grow and expand, our goal is to provide an inclusive platform to foster cooperation between diverse stakeholders, align current and new initiatives, and be a thought leader that will support workstreams needed to advance the managed grazing dairy sector. Our Federally registered National Apprenticeship in managed grazing dairy production will remain a cornerstone of our work. The Apprenticeship program consists of 4000 hours over two years: 3700 hours of paid full-time work-based training under an approved Mentor Dairy Grazier and 300 hours of related instruction through our Managed Grazing
Innovation Center (MGIC). DGA has over 200 approved Mentor Dairy Graziers in 16 states: Iowa, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

Who You Are:Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship invites applications for a Grants Manager to serve as the lead role overseeing DGA’s grant portfolio and financial reporting.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of the grants in the DGA portfolio - from pre-award, post-award and close out administration and reporting. This role ensures compliance with grant requirements, monitors grant-funded projects and manages relationships with funding agencies. The Grants Manager works closely with program staff, finance teams, and external partners to maximize funding opportunities and ensure the successful execution of grant-funded initiatives.

What You'll Do:
Grant Management and Administration:
  • Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including pre-award, post-award, and closeout processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant terms and conditions, including financial and programmatic reporting requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of grant activities, including proposal submissions, award letters, contracts, and reporting documentation.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track grant performance, including financial expenditures and programmatic outcomes, to ensure alignment with grant objectives.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to funders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit timely financial reports, claims for reimbursement or advances in accordance with accounting policies/procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with program staff to monitor progress and address any challenges or changes in grantfunded projects.
  • Work directly with accountants on staff salary allocations, time tracking, and monitoring indirect/match/fringe rates and tracking.

Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funding agencies, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries, both internally and externally.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with funders and at relevant events.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and support to program staff on grant compliance, reporting requirements, and best practices in grants management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for grants management within the organization
What You Bring:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grants management, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing grants from diverse funding sources.
  • Experience with federal, state, and private grant processes and requirements.

Skills
:
  • Strong understanding of government grants, grant writing, budgeting, and reporting processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in grants management software and financial management systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a team.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a home office environment. Reliable access to the Internet is required. There is travel on assignment for meetings and events; setting up a booth may be required.
What We Offer:
The salary for this position is between $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
