The Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with tax regulations specific to the Philippines. This role involves preparing tax returns, advising on tax matters, and maintaining accurate records to comply with local tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with Philippine tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including but not limited to, Value Added Tax (VAT), Income Tax, and Withholding Tax.
- Tax Planning and Advisory: Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimize tax liabilities and ensure effective tax strategies. Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to advise management accordingly.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation. Ensure all tax-related documents are complete and stored securely.
- Audit Support: Assist with tax audits and examinations by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities. Address any tax-related issues or discrepancies that arise during audits.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare tax provisions and assist in the preparation of financial statements with respect to tax implications. Ensure accurate reflection of tax-related items in financial reports.
- Regulatory Updates: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, including updates from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Implement necessary changes to ensure continued compliance.
- Liaison: Act as a liaison between the company and tax authorities. Handle correspondence and communication regarding tax matters.
- Training: Educate and train staff on tax compliance requirements and best practices. Ensure that employees are aware of their tax responsibilities.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to tax-related processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Professional certifications such as CPA or a specialization in tax accounting preferred.)
- Proven experience in taxation accounting, preferably within the Philippine tax system at least 1 year.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with accounting software and tax preparation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Office-based with potential for occasional travel to multiple offices.
- May require occasional overtime during peak periods or to meet deadlines.
Pay: Php25,000.00 - Php30,000.00 per month
