Prompt Engineer with scientific background

Brief Summary:
We are seeking a Prompt Engineer with a scientific background to help optimize and refine AI language models for specialized tasks in the field of science and research. The ideal candidate will work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, and domain experts to develop, test, and fine-tune prompts that maximize the effectiveness of AI systems in producing accurate, relevant, and scientifically rigorous results. This role combines the technical skills of AI and NLP with a strong understanding of scientific concepts to enhance the utility of AI in scientific applications.
Location: Makati City, Philippines
Working Hours: 4pm to 12 Midnight Monday to Friday
Compensation: 35,000 PHP per month
Responsibilities:

• Design, create, and refine effective natural language prompts for AI models that cater to a wide range of scientific applications, such as data analysis, hypothesis generation, literature review, experimental design, and problem-solving within specific scientific domains (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, etc.).
• Work with large-scale language models and help fine-tune them to improve domain-specific knowledge, such as medical research, environmental science, or material science, by developing prompts that ensure the model understands the nuances of the scientific field.
• Analyze the outputs generated by AI models based on the prompts, identifying patterns, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement. Use scientific reasoning and statistical analysis to interpret results and make data-driven adjustments to the prompts.
• Maintain detailed documentation of prompt engineering workflows, model outputs, optimization processes, and findings. Prepare reports and presentations for internal teams or clients to explain the effectiveness and potential of AI models in scientific applications.
• Ensure that prompt engineering adheres to ethical guidelines, particularly in areas like data privacy, reproducibility, and unbiased AI output. Be mindful of the ethical implications of AI in scientific research and help establish protocols for responsible AI usage.
• Stay up-to-date on advancements in both artificial intelligence (especially in NLP) and the specific scientific fields you are working within. Integrate new methodologies, tools, and best practices into your work to continuously improve AI performance.

Qualifications:

• Master’s in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar) combined with a strong understanding of AI, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP).
• Experience with language models, such as GPT-3, GPT-4, or similar AI tools, and familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, Py Torch, Hugging Face). Understanding of prompt engineering techniques and AI fine-tuning methodologies.
• Strong foundation in a specific scientific field (e.g., life sciences, environmental science, physics, or engineering). Ability to understand complex scientific concepts and translate them into AI-compatible formats.
• Proficiency in Python and other programming languages commonly used in AI development. Familiarity with libraries such as Num Py, pandas, and scikit-learn, as well as tools for working with machine learning models.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. Ability to approach problems creatively, apply scientific reasoning, and troubleshoot complex AI model outputs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in preparing technical reports and presentations for scientific or business audiences.
• High attention to detail when testing, refining, and optimizing prompts. Ability to identify subtle differences in AI model behavior and adjust strategies accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in AI research, particularly in NLP or machine learning, and applying these technologies to solve scientific problems.
• Experience in a specific scientific domain where AI is applied or experience in scientific data processing.
