This is a specialized position in the field of radiologic technology which handles to patient care and treatment delivery involving cancer patients. The radiation therapy technologists is a clinical position which involves a good understanding of the anatomical positioning required for accurate and precise patient setup for administration of treatment. This also includes a good understanding of the appropriate treatment accessories and administration of the fractionated dose during the patient’s treatment. It also involves handling of complex equipment such as linear accelerator and brachytherapy units to which involves good judgement of the radiation protection safety to which lowers the risk of radiation exposure. It also involves patient handling to which requires extended understanding and patience to be able to deliver the approved treatment plan by the radiation oncologists. This also involves a wide variety of interaction to different personnel such as the medical physicists and the radiation oncology nurse to plan ahead of the most applicable treatment intended for the patient.
EDUCATIONAL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
a. Must have a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology with competitive grades
b. Must be a licensed radiologic technologist with an updated license
