The Cashier is responsible for assisting customers in the store check-out process by receiving and processing payment transactions as well as for providing excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and connect with customers at the check-out counter and when entering or leaving the store.
- Provide excellent customer service through a professional, friendly and sincere attitude.
- Scan goods and process cash, credit or auto debit payment transactions.
- Issue change and/or receipts.
- Handle any transactions for approved discounts or store promotional activities including the inventory for promotional items.
- Provide product and brand information to customers.
- Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new arrivals.
- Resolve customer complaints, provide relevant information and refer to the manager/supervisor in case of unresolved issues.
- Be familiar with products and ensure correct pricing.
- Pack items carefully in appropriate packaging or gift wrapping.
- Process merchandise returns or exchanges and check to see if items are damaged.
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and there is adequate change and turn-over the cash sales for safekeeping at the end of the day.
- Compute, record and report total sales transactions following standard procedures.
- Maintain a clean and tidy check-out counter.
- Ensure proper functioning of the cash register/POS system.
- Ensure adequate supplies at the check-out counter.
- Support the sales team and participate in the effort to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Be familiar with and comply with company policies and standard store procedures.
- Report any unusual incidents to the supervisor/OIC.
- Perform other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
