About Your Job:
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of data engineers to design, build, maintain scalable and secure data products for multiple business divisions within Qatar Airways. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure that the data products are accessible, reliable and secure. You will drive innovation to ensure that solutions drive value to the business.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver large scale data engineering programs / projects in alignment with the organization’s strategic plans and objectives.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes on cloud.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data engineering team to design, develop, optimize, maintain data products and create a community of practice.
• Collaborate with different stakeholders like data platform & architecture team , data product owners, Data Governance team, business division heads to prioritize data needs, define data strategy and implement governance processess
• Establish best practices, standards, and processes for data engineering operations.
• Develop and implement a data engineering strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals.
• Implement and enforce data quality standards for the data products and maintain data product SLAs.
• Identify inter-dependencies between the various stakeholder groups to ensure all are aligned and risks are identified, mitigated and communicated.

Experience & Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Degree in engineering, computer applications, commerce, or business administration) with minimum 10 years of experience in data engineering with proven expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a leadership role, with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
• Hands on experience on working with Google Cloud Platform and its suite of data analytics services
• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL, No SQL, etc.) and data warehousing concepts.
• Strong knowledge of big data modelling.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and design principles.
• Strong solution design skills to build scalable, resilient and sustainable solutions to address business requirements
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, machine learning, artificial intelligence and data mesh architecture
• Knowledge of airline domain would be preferred, however not mandatory
