**MEP Technician Job Responsibilities**

1. **Installation and Maintenance:**
- Install and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure they are fully functional.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of MEP systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
2. **System Testing and Inspection:**
- Perform diagnostic tests on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to identify issues or malfunctions.
- Inspect and assess systems to ensure that they are working efficiently and safely.
- Ensure all installations and repairs meet local codes, safety standards, and regulations.
3. **Documentation and Reporting:**
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Prepare reports on system performance, defects, and repairs.
- Update system documentation and maintenance logs to ensure proper tracking of all MEP-related activities.
4. **Troubleshooting:**
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose system failures or malfunctions and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to solve complex technical problems.
5. **Coordination with Other Teams:**
- Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, contractors, and architects to ensure the proper installation and functioning of MEP systems.
- Coordinate the timing of projects and provide updates to project managers and supervisors.
7. **Safety Compliance:**
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain knowledge of current safety regulations and codes to avoid accidents and ensure compliance during all MEP activities.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure work areas are safe from hazards.
8. **Customer Service and Support:**
- Provide assistance and support to clients and building occupants in understanding how to operate MEP systems effectively.
- Respond promptly to service requests and emergency situations, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Educate clients on system maintenance and help them understand system controls and functions.
9. **Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:**
- Implement energy-efficient practices in the maintenance, repair, and installation of systems to reduce operating costs.
- Recommend and apply environmentally friendly solutions to enhance the sustainability of MEP systems.
- Assist with installing energy-saving technologies such as LED lighting, energy-efficient HVAC, and water-saving plumbing fixtures.
10. **Tool and Equipment Maintenance:**
- Maintain and properly store tools, equipment, and machinery used for MEP installations and repairs.
- Regularly inspect tools for wear and damage, ensuring they are in good working condition.

### **Qualifications and Skills:**
- **Technical Skills:** Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- **Experience:** Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing MEP systems.
- **Certifications:** Relevant certifications such as HVAC Technician, Electrician, or Plumbing License (where applicable).
- **Problem-Solving:** Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- **Communication:** Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and team members.
- **Attention to Detail:** Ability to follow technical manuals and drawings to ensure accuracy and precision.
- **Physical Requirements:** Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.
