Senior Irrigation Engineer

The Senior Irrigation Engineer is tasked with leading the planning, design, and execution of irrigation projects for agricultural, landscaping, and urban environments. This role involves working closely with clients, contractors, and other engineers to develop innovative and sustainable water management solutions. The Senior Irrigation Engineer will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to environmental standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs for irrigation systems, including layout, water distribution, and control systems.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create precise irrigation designs.
- Ensure systems are designed to optimize water usage and energy efficiency.
- Oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of large-scale irrigation projects.
- Lead teams of engineers and technicians in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring compliance with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Conduct hydrological studies to determine water availability and distribution.
- Design irrigation systems that meet the unique requirements of each project, considering local climate, soil type, and crop needs.
- Implement sustainable water management practices to reduce water waste and maximize efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and field staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to irrigation equipment and water distribution systems.
- Ensure all irrigation systems comply with local and national regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide customized irrigation solutions.
- Communicate project progress, issues, and solutions with clients, government agencies, and contractors.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals for stakeholders.
- Ensure irrigation designs meet environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists to minimize the ecological impact of irrigation systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 12 years of experience in irrigation engineering, with a focus on large-scale projects.
- UPDA Grade A/B is required.
- Proven experience in leading and managing irrigation projects from conception to completion.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Certification in irrigation design or water resource management is an advantage
