About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to join our team at Remoteca. This role will focus on managing the financial activities for our largest global listed client, boasting a revenue of over $10 billion. You will be responsible for leading the monthly management accounts process, group reporting, audit and tax compliance, and complex fund accounting.
The ideal candidate
Newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or CIMA Accountant, with exposure to UK accounting standards, and be familiar with Caseware drafting. You should be based in Durban and have recently completed audit training, or have 2-3 years post-qualification experience, as we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Organisation and responsiveness is key due to volume of work at quarter ends.

Key Responsibilities:
Monthly Management Accounts:
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Analyze variances between budgeted and actual performance, providing insights into financial trends and helping the management team make informed decisions.
- Oversee revenue recognition and cost allocation, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
- Consolidate financial data from various subsidiaries and entities, ensuring compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Submit timely and accurate financial reports to the global headquarters, providing detailed explanations for any variances or anomalies.
- Assist with internal financial presentations and reports, providing clarity on financial standing.
- Lead the coordination and preparation for both internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is readily available and accurate.
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure all queries are resolved and issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Oversee tax-related matters, including the calculation and submission of VAT, corporate tax, and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage daily accounting operations including cash flow management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Conduct cash payment runs, ensuring proper authorization and timely payments to vendors and stakeholders.
- Reconcile bank accounts, perform inter-company reconciliations, and handle complex multi-currency transactions.
- Oversee the accounting for a variety of funds, ensuring proper handling of fund transactions, allocation of fund expenses, and accurate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with specific fund regulations and policies, as well as manage fund audits.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the company’s annual budget, working with various departments to ensure financial targets are realistic and aligned with strategic goals.
- Prepare rolling forecasts, updating regularly based on performance and changing market conditions.
- Draft financial statements using Caseware software, ensuring that they comply with relevant reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or CIMA Accountant (newly qualified preferred).
- Recently out of audit or newly qualified with no more than 1-2 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proven experience in preparing management accounts, financial reports, and handling general accounting operations.
- Proficiency in Caseware is essential for drafting financial statements.
- Exposure to UK accounting standards and practices is highly advantageous.
- Experience with audits, tax compliance, and fund accounting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with different departments and senior management.
- Must be based in Durban or willing to relocate.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Highly detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
