What will you do?

The role will report to the Group Risk and Reinsurance Actuary. The role will give the successful candidate exposure to a wide range of actuarial disciplines, different people and cultures, and a broad range of products and businesses in Africa across the Sanlam Allianz Life portfolio.

What will make you successful in this role?

The successful candidate will be responsible for building out Sanlam Allianz Life Group Risk product support. This will include:

Support the local Sanlam Allianz businesses with strategies to scale the group risk portfolios profitably
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in local businesses
Group risk pricing support and the governance thereof, experience rating and technical marketing
The development of new and revision of existing group risk products and riders
Ensure effective engagement on group risk product matters within Sanlam Allianz Life portfolio businesses and support teams
Develop and maintain relationships with Sanlam Corporate in South Africa to stay close and apply best of class practices around group risk products across the Sanlam Allianz Life portfolio
Working closely with the Sanlam Allianz Life Distribution support function and develop innovative solutions for new market segments and multinational clients
Working closely with the Sanlam Allianz Life IT and Operation support function to ensure effective operational processes, systems and procedures for group risk products
Collaborating with the Sanlam Allianz Life Operations team to develop an experience rating capability aimed at establishing and maintaining a competitive and profitable pricing framework
Collaborating with the Sanlam Allianz Life Reporting team to ensure correct reporting of group risk products

Qualification and Experience

Qualified actuary with a strong preference for experience in group risk pricing

Personal Attributes and Competencies

Experience of group life insurance products would be advantageous
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent people skills to manage relationships with business stakeholders
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking
Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet deadlines
Self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and hold oneself and others accountable
A strong commitment to achieving results coupled with a positive attitude
