This is what you will do
We are excited to expand our Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) R&D team to support Alexion’s Global Portfolio in new modalities of intervention and therapeutic areas and help deliver important medicines to our patients. The GSS R&D organization is on a transformative path to meet the rapidly evolving needs of the business.
Through our “Growth Through Innovation (GTI)” program, you will help to drive the success of our R&D organization while ensuring we can meet our business goal of delivering important medicines to patients suffering from rare disease to 100 countries worldwide. In this role, you will beresponsible for developing and leading category strategies in support of CRO outsourced clinical services in an assigned Therapeutic area. You will be partnering and advising key stakeholders on supply market dynamics and leading practices which improve value, minimize risk, and ensure quality & cost effectiveness.
Your primary focus will be helping to establish a best practices Category Management and Strategic Sourcing program for CRO outsourced clinical services actively supporting the development a global network of preferred and strategic suppliers. Strategic vision and tactical execution are key to success in this role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Align with Clinical Development Therapeutic Lead as assigned to understand the portfolio delivery and timeline requirements. Develop and execute a clear category strategy to support these studies, manage and execute global sourcing events, and procurement strategies for outsourced CRO clinical services.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective alignment to support business requirements while appropriately managing quality, speed, cost, risk, and ease-of-use.
- Be knowledgeable in market trends, benchmarks, and best practices.
- Ensure a data-driven approach to category management and high-quality analytics to deliver insights, capabilities, and results.
- Coordinates bid defense meeting and provide bid analysis to project teams.
- Contract lifecycle management including negotiation of clinical study contracts and change orders (scope of work, commercial terms, budget) through to close out.
- Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify, manage, escalate, and resolve issues related to supplier performance.
- Develop and foster a supplier experience that nurtures the perception of Alexion as a “customer of choice.”
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive Bio-Pharma industry experience with extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management.
- Exceptional negotiation skills: you are a tenacious problem-solver with a focus on building mutually beneficial relationships.
- Proficient working in a dynamic matrix organization
- Excellent communication and ability to influence others.
- Bachelor Degree ; Advanced Degree ; CPSM or equivalent
- Subject expertise in the Drug Development process
