This role will serve as one of our Electrical Experts within the Electrical Department at the Company's Engineering Centre of Excellence.The successful candidate will become part of a diverse and dynamic team that supports the existing global solar portfolio, while also driving growth by conducting technical and commercial assessments of electrical systems for PV assets, including MV and HV substations, at various project stages: development, design, construction, commissioning, and upon request, in the operational phase.
Key responsibilities for this global role include close coordination with Procurement, Construction, Asset Services, Grid, IT, Digitalization, Quality, and Innovation teams.
Engineering Support
-
Continuous improvement of Functional Technical Specifications, Standards, Certifications, Digital files, and Data Sheets for Electrical Equipment and Electrical Systems, including scope of supply, technical and QA/QC requirements, design requirements, H&S guidelines, and more.

Technical support for Project Development and Project Acquisition processes, including reviewing design proposals and third-party reports on electrical matters.

Support during contractual negotiations with EPCs on technical areas such as electrical engineering, equipment specifications, testing, etc.

Assistance with LV/MV electrical technical analysis for PMs during the construction period, Works Completion, PAC, and FAC.

Support in the development of Basic Design for PV plants (e.g., Single Line Diagrams), PV array sizing, and the optimization process.

Development of electrical and HV evacuation infrastructure for PV plants, including:
-
Basic design at the 10% and 30% stages (primarily for the US and Australian markets).

Load Flow Calculations, Short Circuit Calculation, PQ grid compliance, Inverter selection, and DC/AC cable sizing.

Electrical Engineering Responsibilities

Technical Review and Specification: Conduct technical reviews and specify electrical equipment for PV plants, including PV modules, inverters, protection equipment, cables, switchgears, transformers, and other MV/HV equipment as needed.

Design Calculations and Review: Perform calculations and design reviews related to PV plant electrical systems (from 60% to IFC stage), covering equipment sizing, configuration, earthing systems, and electrical protection analysis.

Optimization of Technical Specifications: Maintain and optimize minimum technical specifications for all LV/MV electrical equipment and works related to the construction of PV plants.

AM and O&M Support: Provide technical support for Asset Management (AM) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities, focusing on fault analysis and troubleshooting.

Consultant Management: Manage and coordinate external consultants to ensure completion of internal assessments.

International Site Visits: Conduct site visits globally to evaluate the technical quality of PV plants at various stages, from construction to operation.

Tool and Procedure Development: Develop tools and procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and optimization in the electrical design of PV plants.

SCADA System Support: Support internal reviews of SCADA system architectural design, metering compliance, project requirements, data acquisition requirements, and electrical designs for SCADA systems.
Procurement and Business Support

Supplier White List: Periodically release an Electrical Suppliers White List acceptable to the company.

Market Monitoring: Regularly monitor the supply market for contractors, technology, innovation, risks, and cost trends.

Supplier Development: Identify supplier development and improvement opportunities in coordination with Procurement, Digitalization, and Asset Services teams.

Tendering Technical Review: Conduct technical reviews of Electrical Design in tendering projects or portfolios, in alignment with relevant stakeholders such as Procurement, Legal, Construction, Grid, and Asset Services, ensuring the best value for the company .

Supply Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with the Procurement department to negotiate supply contracts with vendors.

Grid Compliance: Work with the Grid team to specify grid code compliance requirements for each project.
Construction Support

Compliance with Company Requirements: Ensure that electrical equipment is designed, installed, tested, and commissioned according to company requirements, meeting QSE, Utility, and other regulatory requirements in close coordination with Construction, Asset Services, Digitalization, and IT teams.

Network Security Coordination: Coordinate with IT teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure network security deliverables, testing, budgets, and system completion.
Asset Services Support

Ongoing Support: Assist the Asset Services teams throughout the facility's life cycle to maintain grid reliability, offering ongoing support for critical electrical issues and configuration.

Contract Negotiation: Support contract negotiations for asset management-related services.
Perfil
Knowledge & Experience
-
Engineering & Equipment: Working knowledge of engineering, construction, and commissioning of MV substations and MV/LV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, protections, underground/overhead lines, and other related equipment.
-
Power Systems: Experience in power systems for conventional or renewable installations, including MV/HV reactive power compensation equipment.
-
Electrical System Design: Experience with electrical system design and familiarity with modern calculation methodologies for LV/MV equipment, including AC/DC cables, grounding and earthing design, protection calculations, reactive power compensation, and battery banks.
-
HV/EHV Substation Design: Familiarity with HV/EHV substation designs, particularly for the US market, including AIS/GIS technologies, HV equipment, SLDs, layout configurations, and control and protection systems.

Storage Systems: Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for renewable applications.
-
SCADA Systems: Familiarity with SCADA systems.

Regulations & Standards: Familiarity with IEC/AUS regulations and standards is a plus. Strong working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, and NEC standards.

Grid Codes: Familiarity with grid codes in various US jurisdictions, as well as in Australia, UK, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, etc. Experience with grid connection applications, agreements, offers, and PPAs.

Power Systems Modelling: Experience with electrical power systems modeling and detailed system design using specialized software such as ETAP, Digsilent Power Factory, Cymcap, PSS/E, PSCAD, XGSLab, or similar tools.

On-Site Experience: On-site experience during project construction, commissioning tests, and operation of large renewable energy installations, preferably PV plants.

Technical & Software Skills: Strong computer skills, including familiarity with web-based systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), and Database Management software (e.g., Access).

Relevant Experience: Experience in a similar role is a key advantage.

Education & Experience

Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Power Engineering.

Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in the electrical power systems industry, with significant professional experience in technical roles in the electrical marketplace or equivalent, preferably in the power generation industry.

Interest in Renewable Energy: Strong interest in renewable energy.

International Experience: Experience working internationally or on global projects, both under IEC and ANSI standards.

Language Skills: Fluent English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
