Research Laboratory Technician - Group Lüthi

We are seeking an experienced research technician to support our ongoing research projects. The position is available immediately for two years with the possibility of extension based on performance. Our laboratory applies a multidisciplinary and integrated experimental approach in mice. We combine electrophysiological, imaging and behavioral techniques with advanced computational approaches to investigate the function of neuronal networks driving internal states, with an emphasis on the amygdala and interacting brain areas (Gründemann et al., Science 2019, Fustinana et al., Nature 2021, Courtin et al., Science 2022).
In this role, you will:
- Conduct behavioral and optogenetic experiments
- Perform stereotaxic surgeries and histological processing, including tissue slicing, immunostaining and fluorescent microscopy).
- Support evolving project needs within the lab through a range of tasks.
- You have completed an education as a lab technician/assistant or hold a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Biology or equivalent.
- You have hands-on experience with mice and relevant accreditations (LTK/FELASA). Experience with neuroscience techniques, such as stereotaxic surgeries, behavioral experimentation, and histological processing, is highly desirable.
- You are open to learning new techniques and skills and apply them to a high standard.
- You are reliable, can demonstrate a strong work ethic and have high levels of motivation.
- You are comfortable working independently while adapting to changing needs.
- You are well-organized and can demonstrate strong planning skills.
- You can communicate clearly and effectively in English.
