Senior Director Global Sustainability

As the Senior Director of Sustainability at Human, Nutrition & Care (HNC), you'll shape and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy across all HNC segments and regions, aligning with the broader group goals. You'll lead efforts to make HNC an industry leader in sustainability, focusing on both environmental and societal impacts.
This can be a great opportunity for someone who wants to broaden their experience, beyond business management, commercial or supply chain and/or can be a great step for an aspiring leader in sustainable business.

The role can be performed out of any large european country with a dsm-firmenich office, but most stakeholders are based in our HQ in Kaiseraugst, CH. You will be able to perform the role in a hybrid work setting.

Your key responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability approach that positions HNC as a leader in the industry. This involves creating strategic partnerships with key customers to drive sustainability throughout the value chain.
Sustainability Commitments: Ensure the successful delivery of the company’s (Group and HNC) Sustainability Commitments and Sustainable Portfolio Steering targets by translating ambition into delivery roadmaps and be accountable for the accuracy of HNC sustainability performance reporting.
Integration and Innovation: Collaborate closely with the HNC Leadership Team (HLT) and all HNC segments, regions and businesses to embed sustainability into the business unit and segment/business strategies and decision making. This includes integrating sustainability into the innovation portfolio to transform it into a significant business growth driver, focusing on developing sustainable solutions with and for customers.
Governance and Leadership: Serve as the Chair of the HNC Sustainability Board and be a member of dsm-firmenich’s Global Sustainability Leadership Team. In this capacity, co-shape, develop, and deliver the dsm-firmenich sustainability approach.
Team Leadership: Lead the global and regional HNC Sustainability team, which includes 2 direct reports based in Switzerland and the Netherlands and a broader indirect team of approximately 20 sustainability leads across business segments and regions. This includes oversight of product related sustainability information (Imp Act cards, LCA) and day-to-day customer engagements on sustainability.

You bring

12-15 years’ experience working in a global organization with high complexity and the ability to act at director level
Broad business experience (can be commercial, marketing, supply chain, business management) but preferably combined with a track record in sustainability or at least a proven drive sustainable business.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment where change is a constant
Ability to think long-term and design strategies that align with overall business goals while considering unique aspects of each region.
Proficiency in adeptly navigating diverse organizational hierarchies, including interactions with top-level executives.
Capability of handling complex tasks spanning across different regions and functions.
