Sous Chef on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express Season 2025

As a Sous Chef at The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a Belmond Train you are part of a team that brings culinary visions to life through immersive, unique, and hand-crafted gastronomic experiences. In this role, you will work alongside the Head Chef and skilled colleagues to prepare the highest quality food from recipes. Primary Responsibilities Include:

Preparing and cooking a variety of exquisite menus befitting the train's luxurious dining experience.
Managing kitchen workflow to ensure seamless operations and service delivery.
Oversees inventory and procurement, balancing quality with cost-effectiveness.
Upholds strict quality and hygiene standards in food preparation and presentation.
Guides and develops kitchen staff while fostering teamwork in a compact space.

Requirements

Demonstrated culinary expertise with a minimum of 5 years in fine dining establishments, with overall 10 years work experience including experience in high-pressure kitchen environments .
Strong managerial abilities to oversee kitchen staff, provide training, and maintain high morale and team cohesion.
Ability to quickly adjust to the dynamic and confined working conditions aboard a luxury train and handle unexpected challenges smoothly.
A keen eye for detail in food quality, presentation, and maintaining impeccable hygiene and safety standards.
A commitment to creating exceptional culinary experiences that align with the prestigious reputation of the Belmond brand.
Travelling extensively across Europe
European or Swiss passport
Fluency in English, a basic comprehension of Italian and French
