Director of Asia Operations - Manufacturing, sports consumer technology #1508

Are you an experienced professional in manufacturing operations for consumer technology? Our client, a rapidly growing leader in consumer electronics and fitness technology, is seeking a Director of Asia Operations to lead their manufacturing facility in Taiwan.
This position offers an opportunity to join an innovative company at the forefront of consumer and fitness tech development. As a key member of the senior management team, you'll play a crucial role in driving growth and optimizing manufacturing processes.
We're seeking a candidate who can excel in the dynamic environment of consumer technology production. The ideal applicant will possess extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement methodologies, and strategic planning. Significant experience in producing small electronics, consumer tech, or fitness devices is essential. Your primary objective will be to scale operations to meet increasing global demand while maintaining superior quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
As the leader of manufacturing operations for consumer electronics and fitness tech products, you will:
  • Oversee daily manufacturing and business operations in Asia
  • Develop and implement strategies to standardize and scale manufacturing processes
  • Manage production schedules, capacity planning, and resource allocation
  • Ensure product quality and adherence to ISO standards
  • Direct financial planning and reporting, including budget management and cost control
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive company-wide initiatives
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, fostering a high-performance team culture
Additional Duties:
  • Serve as the official representative for the company's business license
  • Liaise with OEM customers to coordinate materials, resolve delivery issues, and maintain product quality
  • Support sales efforts in developing new OEM customers in Asia
  • Collaborate with senior management on company culture, processes, and strategic initiatives
  • Establish and report on key organizational objectives and metrics
  • Analyze financial statements and implement cost-control measures
  • Develop annual operating and capital expenditure budgets
  • Identify and execute cost reduction strategies in manufacturing
  • Oversee documentation, inventory management, and facility maintenance
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Guide managers in achieving production objectives and key performance indicators
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of specialized staff
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Manage employee relations in accordance with company policies and local regulations
  • Ensure compliance with local labor, environmental, and regulatory standards
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations management, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or engineering; advanced degree preferred
  • Proven track record in managing and scaling mid-sized manufacturing organizations in consumer technology
  • Comprehensive understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Extensive experience with consumer products incorporating software, electronics, and mechanical components
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (both verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience working with international companies across Asia, Europe, and North America
Additional Information:
  • Location: On-site management at the Taichung facility
  • Compensation: Competitive salary with performance-based bonus structure
  • Travel: International travel required to industry hubs
  • Work Schedule: Flexibility required for overtime in this fast-paced industry
