Senior Manager of YETI Thailand Office & Validation Engineering

As Sr. Manager of YETI Thailand Office & Validation Engineering, you’ll report to the Director of Operations Engineering, lead a technical team of engineers, and be responsible for a facility that is critical to the success of creating, launching, and sustaining YETI products. In this role, you’ll oversee the YETI Thailand Innovation Center facility and lead a team of Validation Engineers, Material Scientist, Test Technicians, and Metrologists.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a diverse and highly technical team of Validation Engineers, Material Scientists, Test Technicians, Metrologists who are responsible for supporting new product development and sustaining products in production.
  • Partner with Sr. Manager, Validation Engineering and Innovation to oversee all Validation Engineering standards and processes developed and implemented across all YETI products both new and sustaining.
  • Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the YETI Thailand Office’s standard operating procedures.
  • Lead short- and long-term strategy development and execution supporting a multi-season new product development cadence. Manage resources according to business needs and priorities.
  • Design, monitor, and improve all engineering operations under innovation, track key performance metrics, and technical risks across products/programs.
  • Prioritize and evaluate the work generated by various teams to ensure effective and on time delivery of our products.
  • Drive accountability within the team by creating discipline and consistency in activities and deliverables from project-to-project.
  • Coach and support staff to ensure individual and team success. Set individual and team goals and objectives, create development plans, and oversee performance assessment process.
  • Drive service excellence through continuously evaluating the needs of internal customers and optimizing workflow and data management systems, operating metrics and procedures, capabilities, and capacities.
  • Manage operating and capital expenditure budgets, including capability and capacity in/outsourcing, planning, and strategy.
  • Facility management with support of and through collaboration with YETI’s Facilities team, including maintenance, calibrations and certifications, safety and security procedures, and scheduling.

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or related field of science with equivalent work experiences. (Advanced degrees a plus but not required.)
  • At least 8 years of experience in engineering and product development with some experience in the Consumer Goods Industry is strongly preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading and developing technical staff, to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Ability to effectively build relationships cross-functionally and across the entire business.
  • Experience and knowledge of testing and material standards and organizations.
  • Experience with DFMEA and Design Validation Plan (DVP) development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communications skills.
  • Experience with Solidworks, Statistical Analysis Tools, JMP, etc.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical and test fixture design.
  • Experience managing complex workflows in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Experience with various root cause analysis techniques, excellent agility, reliability engineering and problem-solving skills demonstrating the ability to work within the grey.
  • Experience working with international teams and/or suppliers including 3rd party test and prototype resources.
  • Experience with metrology and advanced rapid printing technologies.
  • Experience with facility buildouts and equipment selection, procurement, and integration.
  • Experience in facilities management, preferred.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification or equivalent training and experience,
  • preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, preferred.
  • Experience working in test lab environment, preferred
