What you’ll do in this role

• Lead and refine the migration of our database from Dynamo DB to a time-series database (Postgres/Timescale or Influx DB).
• Configure and manage AWS-hosted database infrastructure and Kubernetes services, optimizing database performance and ensuring access to necessary services.
• Provide database access guidance to the software team, delegating any application code modifications to them.
• Implement and maintain data integrity checks, health monitoring, and automated backup solutions to ensure reliability and availability.
• Oversee the transition of our Python, Java Script, and Rust applications from EC2 to Kubernetes for improved scalability and maintenance.
• Set up AWS RDS for database management and AWS Elasti Cache for in-memory caching, while supporting custom configurations for Kafka and Elasticsearch.
• Build and optimize CI/CD workflows by enhancing or transitioning our current Git Lab + Jenkins systems.
• Extend our monitoring framework with tools like Grafana and New Relic to maintain system health, ensure high uptime, and provide alerts for potential disruptions or outages.
• Support and expand Tableau and other business intelligence systems to improve client analytics.
• Integrate diverse data sources, develop custom dashboards, and enhance the UI for better client insights.

We’re looking for

• Database Migration Expertise: Proven experience in database migration, especially from Dynamo DB to time-series databases like Postgres/Timescale or Influx DB. Strong knowledge of time-series data management, performance optimization, and data integrity practices.
• AWS & Kubernetes Proficiency: Advanced expertise in AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes cluster configuration, with hands-on experience in hosting and configuring modern databases.
• Tableau & BI Tools: Familiarity with Tableau and other BI analytics tools, with experience in connecting various data sources and developing client-centered dashboards.
• Programming Proficiency: Skilled in Python, SQL, and modern Dev Ops tools for database and infrastructure management.
