Overview
As a Cybersecurity and Compliance Specialist at Alcerno Group, you will play a pivotal role in protecting our clients' digital assets by ensuring their IT environments are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards. You will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external auditors to implement, manage, and monitor security measures that safeguard information systems and data integrity. This role requires a combination of deep technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
Duties
Security Assessments & Audits:
  • Conduct thorough security risk assessments and audits of client systems, networks, and applications to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats.
  • Develop and recommend mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
Compliance Management:
  • Ensure that clients' IT operations comply with relevant regulations, such as GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, NIST, and other industry-specific standards.
  • Assist clients in preparing for compliance audits, including documentation, evidence gathering, and audit process management.
Policy Development & Implementation:
  • Develop, review, and update cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with clients to implement these policies and ensure they are effectively communicated and enforced across their organizations.
Incident Response & Management:
  • Lead incident response efforts, including the identification, containment, eradication, and recovery from cybersecurity incidents.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
Security Awareness & Training:
  • Design and deliver cybersecurity awareness training programs for client staff to foster a security-conscious culture.
  • Stay current with emerging threats and trends to continuously improve training content and relevance.
Technical Implementation & Monitoring:
  • Implement security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), anti-virus software, encryption tools, and other security technologies.
  • Monitor security logs, alerts, and notifications to detect and respond to potential security incidents promptly.
Supplier & Third-Party Risk Management:
  • Assess and manage risks associated with third-party suppliers and service providers, ensuring they meet cybersecurity and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate and conduct third-party security reviews and assessments.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of clients' cybersecurity and compliance programs and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in industry forums, webinars, and training to stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, tools, and best practices.
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with client IT teams, executives, and other stakeholders to provide guidance on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during client meetings, presentations, and strategic discussions.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all security activities, assessments, and compliance efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports for clients on the status of their cybersecurity posture, including recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, or similar.
Experience – in cybersecurity and compliance, with strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and security best practices preferred.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of security technologies and methodologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems is a plus.
