Data Collection Operative

Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham
Via is currently looking for a Data Collection Operative to join our Highway Infrastructure Services Team based at our Trent Bridge House Office in West Bridgford, Nottingham.
You will provide a range of highway specific data and provide specialist services to enhance and maintain the network, meeting company business plan objectives and achieving client and customer requirements over 5 days a week, Monday to Sunday.
The Job
Key areas of responsibility will include: –
- Carry out the collection of a range of multivariate highway data, and ensure it achieves quality, programme and financial targets meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
- Plan, supervise and, if required, participate in highway surveys of varying size and complexity.
- Maintain and calibrate the equipment asset on site to ensure it meets the clients’ strategic requirements.
- Collect, analyse and validate data to ensure it meets the customer’s requirements.
- Adhere to all current management systems, processes and requirements ensuring full compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice and safeguarding staff, contractors and members of the public.
- Provide specialist technical and cost advice to both internal and external clients and bodies, to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects.
- Manage communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members.
- On site supervision of up to 10 casual traffic Enumerators.
Mainly you will be excited to be a vital part of our Highway Infrastructure Services Team, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you: –
- Experience of working outside in a highway related environment.
- Experience in supervising staff.
- Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support data collection and data management activities.
- Experience in data handling, processing and report writing.
- Ability to liaise with Customers and staff, requiring interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to excellent customer care and survey outcomes.
- Willingness to work unsocial hours e.g., weekends and nights / early shifts
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to work outside in all weathers.
Based in Nottinghamshire, with a multi-skilled local workforce and a range of highly trained staff at a few different locations throughout the county. Via East Midlands provides sustainable highways services for Nottinghamshire and across the wider East Midlands region.
