Job summary

The Associate Delivery Manager is part of the CIO Standard Change Team within the Customer Support Services pillar and will be a customer focal point across DIO and the MOD Estate where DIO support. Delivering hardware and software via the Defence Digital Catalogue services to end users across the DIO footprint UK and Overseas. The appointment of an Associate Delivery Manager will enhance resource to improve customer service.
The role requires personnel to be office based to provide effective delivery, with occasional homeworking. As an Associate Delivery Manager within the Standard Change Team of the CIO you will have the skills, knowledge to help shape the CIO’s approach to Digital Delivery within a focused Information Technology environment; this will be supported by a programme of training to develop and improve skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with wide range of customers within DIO, suppliers, and the wider MOD.

The role requires a high standard of communication, problem solving, technical knowledge and skills and the ability to actively engage and connect with a broad range of customers. We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions, and we work across the world: in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal, and Oman.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
  • To handle catalogue provisions to deliver all standard customer requests in line with processes.
  • Accurately gather customer requirements, communicating effectively and manage customer expectations.
  • Focal point for Mobile ways of working and user queries and issues.
  • Support for the rollout and steady state use of smartphones, i Phones, i Pads, and laptops, including issuing and processing activations of devices.
  • Processing of hardware, peripheral and software requests.
  • Liaison with 2nd & 3rd line support for a range of client hardware and software.
  • Performing role of Local Security Officer (LSO) for official systems and Expert User (raising customer orders via the Defence Digital Service Catalogue).
  • Asset Management via Helix Asset Management Tool including - recording and updating assets and user details, creation of work requests and assigning to the team within Share Point and Remedy.
  • Monitoring and ordering of equipment stock and stationery levels.
  • Postal duties including arranging parcel force returns of equipment.
  • Processing disposals of redundant equipment.
  • Managing and supporting a help desk.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
