Job summary
The successful candidate will lead a range of compliance-focused operational challenges – putting safety first, implementing long-term compliance improvement plans, upskilling local teams, identifying opportunities towards Net Zero, to name a few. Everything done will be in support of a safe and compliant estate and to support the strategic goals of the military.

If found successful and subject to availability, you will be offered one or more locations as your base office. You will be required to work from this specific office on a regular basis, however, you will also be required to travel to other sites within your regional and wider DIO estate. You will be asked to confirm your preferred base location at application. We will endeavour to be flexible where possible on choice of site.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
- Provide direct support and proactive advice to site teams on their specific area of expertise (gas)
- Taking the lead in carrying out compliance investigations to ensure contractors align with their contractual obligations and deliver in a consistent manner across the Region.
- Implement compliance recommendations put forward by senior customer stakeholders
- Formulate strategies to continually improve compliance
- Lead and mitigate key compliance risks
- Lead the provision of external technical support interface and coordination with expert include Subject Matter Experts
- Work alongside site teams in identifying future work programmes producing a coherent continuous improvement bid for customers in the next financial year.
- Work with commercial team members where a contractual scope issue arises
- Work as an active member of the team supervising compliance in accordance with MOD and DIO policy and guidance
- Ensure pro-active action in the case of non-compliance by partners
Person specification
- A relevant gas qualification and relevant and recent experience in a compliance role in a construction, infrastructure, engineering environment
- Experience of working in a property management (or similar) organisation including managing gas
- An understanding and compliance with estate and property related legislative, statutory, regulatory and professional requirements.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

Application sifting is expected to take place during week commencing 24 November 2024.
Interviews are currently expected to take place on MS Teams and to be conducted during week commencing 1 December 2024.
A minimum of 2 full working days’ notice will be provided for interviews. We endeavour to stick to these dates, but these are subject to change around business needs.

As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came in to effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical.
