We are delighted to now be welcoming applications from compassionate, motivated RVNs to join our team as an OOH Veterinary Nurse on a flexible fixed-term contract up to 12 months.

Due to maternity leave within our team, we're seeking a passionate and dedicated OOH Nurse to join us on a 12-month contract basis, alternatively we are open to considering a shorter contract length if that is better suited to your requirements. If you're an ambitious individual looking to expand your OOH and ECC nursing skills in a supportive, close-knit environment, this role is for you. We offer a sought-after shift pattern of 3 set nights per week starting on a Sunday, with a 1:4 Saturday night rota. We understand the value of your expertise and commitment, which is why we are offering an industry-leading salary up to £34,300 per annum, based on a 37.5hr working week.

As a dedicated OOH Nurse at Swift Referrals, you will play a vital role in our mission to deliver exceptional patient care. Routinely you will work with the emergency clinicians, to provide the highest standard of emergency care to presenting patients, and manage the patients in intensive care as well as hospitalised referral patients. You will work closely within a team of 3 other nurses, plus ACAs and an on-site vet to support and focus on our absolute priority, which is delivering the highest possible quality of nursing care. We see a wide range of interesting cases across first opinion and referral emergencies and inpatients, so this is an amazing opportunity to really utilise your nursing skills to your full potential – all with the full support of our experienced team who will be there to guide you as you find your feet. As with all successful teams, we encourage everyone to be versatile and assist in other disciplines and emergencies as needed.

Opened in 2019 and purpose-built to industry leading standards, Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary referral hospital offering the very best in veterinary excellence, all under one roof. We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery, housing world-class facilities on our premises from advanced imaging machines to specialist treatment and aftercare rooms. We have 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 Slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy and state-of-the-art operating theatres, and separate dog and cat wards. We also have a dedicated ECC and OOH centre which houses a large ICU for our critical patients. A bit about you...

RVNs of all experience levels and nursing backgrounds are welcome to – we recruit based on attitude and aptitude, and full training and support is provided for our new team members. Most importantly, we are looking for nurses who align with our vision and values. We care with integrity and transparency, with the wellbeing of our patients at the heart of everything we do. Out of hours experience would be desirable due to the fast paced nature of the role, and any further qualifications (for example Cert ECC or similar) would be beneficial.

Working pattern

This is a full-time position, working 3 fixed nights per week (Sunday, Monday & Tuesday) plus a 1:4 Saturday night rota. Shift times are 7:30pm-8:00am with a 1hr unpaid break. The contract is available to begin immediately due to one of our team members transferring to a different service in the hospital, and we will happily consider contract lengths of 3-12 months at your preference.
