Job Duties
Note: This position is open to DEQ agency employees only. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Security is seeking a qualified Jr. Information Technology Security Analyst. This role is responsible for Coordinating the documentation and tracking of vulnerability management process. Serves as IT security administrator on routine requests and provide Backup to the agency IT security administrator on other requests. Coordinates and monitors annual information security training requirements. Supports the offices mission to uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data, thereby contributing to the resilience and trustworthiness of the agency’s ecosystem.
Minimum Qualifications
The selected candidate will at least possess the following qualifications:

• Effective analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills for resolving issues related to security
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed technical materials and documentation
• Knowledge of DEQ Programs and IT Applications
• Experience providing user security support
  
• Experience in utilizing JIRA and security scanning tools
• Ability to use office automation software and access control tools
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to work cooperatively with other agency staff to implement changes and solve problems
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with cybersecurity, industry experts and non-technical employees who need to follow security protocols
• Ability to work effectively with all levels within an organization
• Knowledge of Commonwealth security policies and standards
Familiarity with COV ITRM policies, standards, and guidelines
