Job Description

This position exists to provide academic assistance to Practical Nursing students and to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Under general supervision, the CLA II/Practical Nursing provides tutoring to a variety of students, especially students with academic disadvantages. This will include students who are English language learners or students in other at-risk categories. Along with tutoring, this position will manage the Nursing labs, which includes management, maintenance an inventorying of equipment. This position will make determinations of what equipment and supplies need to be purchased from semester to semester. The CLA II/ Practical Nursing will manage student vaccination data for clinical sites. Finally, the position will develop high fidelity simulation scenarios and manage he equipment associated with them. Additional duties may also be assigned.

Specific Job Duties:

Monitor students in the nursing lab
Monitor students practicing skills
Tutor students in skills that have been previously taught by faculty
Implement security measures to protect property
Monitor safety and report issues to faculty
Ensure equipment is used in a proper and safe manner
Maintain infection control measures
Monitor attendance in lab
Provide feedback to faculty on utilization of lab by students

Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree AND relevant licensure in LPN or RN, AND
One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at the high school level or above

4 years of work experience in Nursing where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required

An equivalent combination of education and work experience

Preferred Qualification

Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree sufficient to provide technical lab services for or relevant licensure in Nursing
2 years teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at the high school level or above
2 years of work experience in the nursing field
An equivalent combination of education and work where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required experience
