Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The incumbent of this position supports the mission of OJJDP through supporting states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system.

Duties

Plans and manages special projects for OJJDP or program issues with broad impact, such as those on an OJJDP or nationwide level that ultimately result in advances for the juvenile justice and child protection fields.
Serves as a subject matter expert in assigned programmatic areas within the juvenile justice field. Supports management to develop, coordinate and implement strategic plans to include mission, goals, objectives and implementation strategies.
Plans, announces and coordinates pre-award processes for complex grants and/or agreements, such as developing solicitations for significant grants or programs that include forecasted changes in OJP long range program plans and strategies.
Provides training and technical assistance to grantees to ensure effective implementation and success of programming.
Serves a subject matter expert on matters related to the States' compliance with the core requirements of the JJDP Act.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of juvenile justice systems, programs and issues that have national impact. Provides advice, guidance, training and technical assistance to ensure effective implementation of core requirements.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of specialized experience include:
  • Identified gaps in grant management policies, procedures, practices, and documentation related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field.-Designed and/or developed grant solicitations for grants and/or cooperative agreements related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field.-Reviewed juvenile justice grants and agreement applications for alignment with program objectives, policy adherence, and fiscal feasibility.-Managed awarded grants and/or cooperative agreements related to juvenile justice, youth focused programs, child protection and/or an associated field, working with grantees to ensure all requirements were met and deliverables submitted, from grant award to grant closeout.-Prepared final assessments of compliance with OJP and statutory requirements for disposition of property, financial and accounting reconciliation and resolution of adverse audit findings related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field.

This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
