Human Resources Manager

Aeromag is a private-held company specializing in aircraft de-icing, managing de-icing centres, and recovering and recycling de-icing fluids. Established in numerous airports in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Aeromag is recognized for its environmental innovations.
As part of our current growth, we seek a candidate to fill a Manager – Human Resources USA role based in Newark, New Jersey. Reporting to the Director of HR, you will oversee all HR functions across our multiple de-icing stations in the USA. This role ensures that HR operations are aligned with company objectives, legal requirements, and best practices to support the de-icing operations. You will manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and training across geographically dispersed locations while contributing to employee engagement and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment and Staffing:
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to meet staffing needs at various de-icing stations, including seasonal hiring during peak de-icing months.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment processes: job postings, interviews, hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new employees.
  • Collaborate with station managers to anticipate and address workforce needs.
  • Employee Relations and Engagement:
  • Foster a positive and compliant work environment across all de-icing stations.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Implement employee engagement programs to enhance morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and safety regulations, especially OSHA standards related to de-icing operations.
  • Lead and manage workers' compensation claims and investigations in coordination with the safety department.
  • Oversee the administration of employee safety programs and support training related to safe de-icing practices.
  • Performance Management:
  • Oversee the performance appraisal process for all employees, ensuring consistency and alignment with operational goals.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for underperforming employees, working closely with station managers.
  • Manage disciplinary actions as needed while maintaining compliance with company policies.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
  • Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing across stations in partnership with the finance team.
  • Regularly review and recommend adjustments to compensation plans to stay competitive in the industry.
  • HR Data and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
  • Generate reports on HR metrics, such as turnover, time-to-hire, and training completion rates.
  • Analyze HR data to recommend improvements and support decision-making at the corporate level.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in HR management, preferably in multi-location or service-oriented industries.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labour laws, and OSHA regulations and experience managing compliance in operational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees across multiple locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage conflict and employee relations issues.
  • Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) and payroll systems.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Regular travel to de-icing stations across the USA is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, operational environment, especially during peak de-icing seasons.
  • Flexibility to respond to HR issues outside regular business hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
