General Schedule
Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Position Overview:
The primary job duties of this position are to guide, support, and process the immigration documentation for admitted international graduate applicants and throughout their new student enrollment process; assist with undergraduate admissions workflow when needed; and establish systems and processes to improve office workflow. Reviews and evaluates graduate applicants' proof of financial support from other countries to determine eligibility for admission into the University and the acceptability of documentation for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Form I-20 and U.S. Department of State Form DS-2019. Conduct preliminary evaluation of graduate courses taken at international institutions for transfer credit by locating resources to assist in the evaluation, advise international students and applicants about admission and U.S. immigration laws and regulations, monitor international student status, and evaluate actions to be taken when an international student's status changes. Communicates regularly with colleagues from partner institutions, UCO representatives, and officials at foreign agencies regarding admissions workflow, government scholarships, and other student financial aid. Designs and assists with the development of systems and processes to improve office workflow and automate routine administrative processes, enhancing the ability of staff to accomplish the mission of the department.
Job Duties
- Issue Immigration documents for incoming International Graduate Students. This includes both I-20s and DS-2019s. This will require the ability to be a DSO and an ARO (See below in Qualifications/Experience Required).
- Evaluate financial documents for proof of funding for education. (Training offered)
- Counsel international students on housing, finances, academics, social services, and personal adjustment.
- Guide prospective and current students on visa options along with immigration staff.
- Assist with undergraduate admissions when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in job related field or 4+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
A Designated School Official (DSO) must be either a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States1.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Candidates who have worked or lived in a foreign country are preferred. To ensure cultural sensitivity, candidates who have not worked or lived abroad should describe their cross-cultural experiences in their cover letter. It is also preferred that applicants have at least 1 year of experience in admissions or a related field in higher education, including some experience in international student recruitment, admission, and/or services. Some knowledge of SEVIS and Banner systems are preferred.
