Location: Remote
Application Deadline: January 3, 2025
Reports To: Mobile Training Team Lead Fellow
Compensation: $23.00 per hour, estimated $9,000-11,500

ABOUT WARRIOR-SCHOLAR PROJECT
In partnership with colleges and universities, Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) hosts intensive, one week college-preparatory academic boot camps for enlisted veterans and transitioning service members. Boot camps are offered in three disciplines: Humanities, STEM, and Business. Through faculty lectures, workshops and research projects, tailored assignments, and one-on-one tutoring, warrior-scholars acquire the skills to succeed in higher education and navigate the cultural shift from military service to college. Throughout the course, warrior-scholars are mentored by student veterans who have successfully transitioned from the military to college. WSP also offers workshops tailored to address the unique needs of veterans enrolled in community colleges and targeted programming for underrepresented veterans. All programming is provided at no cost to warrior-scholars.

WSP also hosts additional programming for boot camp alumni, including a graduate school support program, academic support workshops, professional development information sessions, and community engagement opportunities.

DESCRIPTION
Each WSP Mobile Training Team (MTT) consists of 2 to 4 successful student-veterans who are alums of the WSP boot camp program. These Fellows are employed throughout the summer to help execute the WSP boot camp programs. While Fellows’ tasks may vary depending on which type of team they are assigned to, their primary responsibility is to execute the boot camp program programmatically and logistically. All Fellows are responsible for teaching and mentoring program participants, as well as coordinating program implementation and completing administrative tasks in collaboration with WSP staff, campus faculty, and campus stakeholders to ensure that WSP programs are run according to established standards.

Please note that this position is open to WSP alumni only. This is a seasonal position. WSP Fellows are expected to work from mid-May to mid-August 2025. If you are interested in applying but know that you will be unavailable for short, specific durations during this window, please indicate in your application when you would be unavailable. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Fellows will be paid for hours spent working (including travel). The Fellow hourly rate is $23.00 per hour. Fellows can anticipate earning $9,000-11,500 over the course of the summer.

Administrative Tasks Throughout Summer:
  • Track, record, and approve time worked in ADP by the deadline provided by the Director of Human Resources to ensure accurate and timely pay

  • Set up personal travel arrangements with travel agency via WSPs online booking platform of record and within WSPs travel policies
  • Attend monthly all-Fellow calls
  • Complete evaluations of team members

Pre-Program:

  • Prepare for and attend MTT Fellow Training, which is required for Fellows and will take place in late May 2025
  • Learn and use appropriate systems to coordinate and share info with all WSP staff members and university stakeholders; update and maintain documents, spreadsheets, and other pre-course related materials
  • Assist with pre-course coordination as needed; prepare shared electronic documents, inventory, and assemble course material; and attend pre-course calls/meetings

Program Execution:
  • Administer the WSP boot camp curriculum, adapting as necessary (in coordination with either the Lead Fellow or Director of Education) based on participant needs and course developments
  • Mentor and support participants throughout the program and lead discussions on transitional topics for student veterans, tailoring discussions to meet the needs of participants
  • Connect participants to designated WSP staff or vetted resources on matters that exceed Fellows scope of work in accordance to the on-call protocol
  • Track the progress and development of participants
  • Administer pre- and post-course surveys, manage participant check-in and check-out procedures
  • Communicate program details to participants and MTT members and communicate program updates to other WSP staff as necessary
  • Attend and document daily lectures, workshops, speaker events, etc. and facilitate end-of-course reception, if required, and perform other related duties as assigned
  • Escalate situations of concern to the MTT Lead in accordance with the On-Call protocol

Post-Course:
  • Invite program participants to WSP Alumni private social media pages as soon as the program ends
