Under the close or general supervision of the Personnel Supervisor I, the Personnel Specialist will ensure Franchise Tax Board (FTB) staff is receiving timely pay and benefits while learning about various HR functions. The Personnel Specialist performs all personnel and payroll functions for an assigned group of reporting units. Interprets and applies laws and rules from various control agencies, such as the State Personnel Board (SPB), California Department of Human Resources (Cal HR), and State Controller's Office (SCO). This position is one of multiple positions, each responsible for different, and often multiple payroll unit codes (PUC) throughout the department.

This classification is eligible for an annual recruitment and retention bonus after completion of 12 months in the classification. Please note that this occurs every 12 months!

Position may be extended to up to 24 months or become permanent.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires 3 or more days in the office per week. It is designated office-centered and may be eligible for some remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need.
