If you are ready for the challenge, want continuous growth, and want to become an expert in this field, this position as a Mainframe System Engineer in the Technology Services Division's Infrastructure Services Bureau, Mainframe Services Unit is for you. Under the direction of the z/OS Manager, a significant aspect of your job is to install, troubleshoot, and document Mainframe systems software. You will work independently and as part of a core group of Systems Programmers/Specialists providing 24x7x365 support on mission critical systems software, key to the successful mission of the Franchise Tax Board and the State of California.

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.

- Experience working with and administering mainframe database systems software (DB2, DB2 Tools, Omegamon for DB2, Software AG Products - Adabas, Natural, Predict)
- Experience working with and administering mainframe performance and ISV systems software (Omegamon)
- Experience troubleshooting mainframe system software
- Experience planning, scheduling, and performing system software component upgrades and applying fixes for products running on z/OS
- Understanding of or experience using Custom Built Product Delivery Option (CBPDO), Server Pac, System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/e), z/OSMF, Source/Distribution and Load/Target Libraries, applying Program Temporary Fixes (PTF)/ZAPs
- Experience working with and/or administration of the following software: Time-Sharing Option (TSO), Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), Command List (CLIST), Restructured Extended Executor (REXX), Job Control Language (JCL), System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), IBM utilities, mainframe Assembler
- Experience with performance and tuning of system software components
- Acts as technical point of contact (SME) for Mainframe system software
