Security Officer (Unarmed): 10PM-6AM
This is an unarmed, uniformed civilian position performing work of moderate difficulty conducting safety and security operations at Palmetto Hall, a private, gated community located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Palmetto Security Innovations (PSI) is a contract security company that provides security services with an emphasis on training, professional conduct and appearance, and most importantly, outstanding customer service to owners and guests at the premier residential community of Palmetto Hall.
Client History:
The private, non-resort gated community of Palmetto Hall, located on the north end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is the only client that Palmetto Security Innovations serves. Palmetto Hall is approximately 750 acres in size with 523 homesite lots; 490 have been developed (with single-family homes). Short-term rentals of less than six-months are prohibited by the covenants. The residents are a mix of young families, couples, working individuals as well as retirees. The look of the community is refined, and with mature trees and abundant wildlife, it is lush and beautiful.
Located within the community is the Palmetto Hall Golf and Country Club (PHGCC), which has two 18-hole golf courses, two tennis courts, a pool with a pavilion and a beautiful southern-style clubhouse. The golf courses, pro shop, and restaurant are open to the public. In addition, the Junior Players Golf Academy is located at PHGCC. There is a separate public access road and parking lot for public use; the public utilizing the golf course or clubhouse cannot access the residential area of Palmetto Hall via motor vehicle.
Open position:
Security Officer (Unarmed): Full-time - 10:00PM - 6:00AM
Salary:
The current pay rate is $20.50/hour with an OT rate of $30.75/hour; $42,640/year BASE SALARY (excluding overtime, special event pay, and holiday pay). Individuals scheduled to work on five specified holidays are paid at time-and-a-half ($30.75/hour).
As of January 1, 2025, the pay rate will be $21.50/hour with and OT rate of $32.25/hour, and a BASE SALARY of $44,720.

• Minimum call up pay: You are paid 2 hours straight time minimum for any call up/training: For example, CPR/AED practical training might last 20 minutes. YOU ARE PAID FOR 2 HOURS.
• Special event pay: You are paid 4 hours OVERTIME for all special events worked: For example, July 4th Parade is 1 hour long. YOU ARE PAID 4 HOURS OVERTIME - no matter how long you actually worked.

Merit bonuses are also available. In addition, employees are paid for training and SLED registration costs are paid by PSI.

Examples of duties:

• Provides professional, prompt, and courteous service;
• Monitors Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue (HHIFR) radio transmissions & the Pulse Point app and responds to medical emergencies in Palmetto Hall; Renders medical aid until HHIFR arrives and assists HHIFR personnel as directed; Administers basic first aid, CPR, and uses AED as needed;
• Enforces speed limits, community covenants, rules and regulations, as well as parking regulations and issues citations and or notices accordingly. Explains rules and regulations;
• Receives, documents, and responds to low priority calls related to minor traffic accidents, animal complaints, found/lost property complaints, suspicious activity complaints, noise complaints, and other complaints not immediately requiring the response of a law enforcement officer;
• Performs patrol in the community to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions;
• Calls law enforcement or the fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons;
• Immediately notifies law enforcement if a crime is discovered/reported and properly identifies and preserves crime scenes;
• Assists sworn law enforcement officers and fire department personnel as requested/needed;
• Provides traffic direction and control for accidents, disabled vehicles, and road hazards;
• Utilizes mobile phones, radar, cameras, and computers. Utilizes and monitors surveillance equipment;
• Staffs and monitors the gated entrance/exit, accepts payments and issues receipts for gate entry;
• Creates and/or distributes guest passes and verifies decals and guest passes of persons entering property, denying entry to persons who cannot show either proper identification or cause for being admitted;
• Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences;
• Operates office computer/applicable software systems to gather information, write incident reports and document activities;
• Maintains prompt, predictable, and regular physical attendance;
• Provides truthful and accurate written and verbal communications;
• Maintains the ability to competently and credibly testify in court as required;
• Adheres to all uniform, grooming & hygiene standards and maintains a professional appearance at all times;
• Uses professional and appropriate verbiage when interacting with residents, guests, contractors, and other staff.

Physical Demands:
With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent;
• Eighteen (18) years of age or older;
• United States Citizen;
• Possess a valid Driver’s License; Candidates must be insurable for a commercial driving policy and maintain a good driving record/insurability throughout employment;
• Pass a drug test;
• Successful passing of a background check, SLED certification, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and other required training;
• Must be able to meet, and continue to meet, any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers throughout employment;
