We will foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic, and population research.

Position Summary
This temporary position will support our members plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate social/clinical research in support of research, or develop, public programs and policies. Social/clinical research includes behavioral, economic, educational, public health/medical, public policy, sociology, mental health, criminal justice and closely related areas. Social/clinical researchers create or validate theories through data/information collection, documentation and analysis with a goal of description and explanation. The range of duties may include, but is not limited to: developing methodology, database development and management, data/information collection and analysis, project administration, program and/or policy development and evaluation, preparing publications and reports and related products, project planning and design, communication, instruction and public education.
Specifically, this position supports Dr. Zev Nakamura, LCCC Member and Assistant Professor, UNC School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, and Dr. Erin Kent, LCCC Member and Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
Dr. Nakamura is a psychiatrist and clinical researcher with advanced training in psycho-oncology and a career focus to improve cognitive outcomes in patients with cancer. His goal for this line of research is to rigorously evaluate objectively measured and patient-reported outcomes of cognition, understand how other psychosocial and biological variables impact cognition, and test pharmacological interventions to prevent or treat the cognitive consequences of cancer and cancer care
Dr. Kent’s focus is on the impact of social context on cancer control, and she leads a program of patient- and family-centered outcomes research and community engaged scholarship. Dr. Kent is currently leading studies to improve support provision to individuals with serious illness and their families.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge in an interdisciplinary field that may include natural, social, and humanities field of studies not limited to Public Health, Psychology, Sociology.
