Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The mission of the UNC Kidney Center (UNCKC) and the UNC Division of Nephrology & Hypertension is to reduce the burden of chronic kidney disease through discovery about the pathophysiology and therapeutics of kidney disease and through the development and assessment of educational programs about kidney disease for North Carolinians and their primary care physicians. The goals and objectives of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension within the Department of Medicine are threefold: patient care, research, and education. The division is composed of individuals interested in kidney function in health and disease. The patient care activities include outpatient nephrology clinics, inpatient nephrology consultation as well as care of patients on the inpatient nephrology service, and care of chronic dialysis patients at several outpatient dialysis centers. The research activities of the division include clinical, and basic and translational studies. Educational activities include teaching of medical students, post-graduate trainees such as medical residents, and advanced postgraduate trainees in clinical and research fellowships. The diversity and complexity of objectives of the division require expertise in multiple disciplines.

Position Summary

This position will serve as a Clinical Research Regulatory Coordinator within the Department of Nephrology. The Clinical Research Regulatory Coordinator is responsible for research regulatory management for a variety of complex clinical research protocols, including leading efforts in gathering, editing, compiling, and reporting regulatory information. The Clinical Research Regulatory Coordinator will analyze and reconcile information from various sources to complete various regulatory based tasks, such as Institutional Review Board submissions and applications management, creation and maintenance of regulatory files, and quality assurance activities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Must be able to use considerable judgement and skills in performing work assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Good communication skills both oral and written and the capacity to adjust in a team and be flexible. Comfortable in a hospital and outpatient clinic setting. Competent with Microsoft Access databases and Microsoft Office and have experience with web-based data entry systems, spreadsheet preparation, data collection/management/analysis.
