Job Summary:
The Space Electro-Optical / Infrared (EO/IR) Sensors Systems Department within Raytheon’s Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) seeks talented Systems Engineers. Our team, located in El Segundo, CA, specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Focused on program execution, business growth and the highest level of customer satisfaction, the ASDS team provides customers with unmatched capabilities of detection and sensing, command and control, and air-to-air, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air munitions to accomplish air, space and missile defense missions.
You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together.
This position is an onsite role in El Segundo, CA.
What You will Do:
- Provide basic support developing and documenting requirements and interfaces using Digital Engineering & MBSE techniques, design analysis, modeling and simulation, system integration and trade studies.
- Providing basic support developing, documenting, and executing system verification to show compliance.
- Provide basic support in developing, integrating, documenting, and demonstrating Digital Engineering and MBSE tools and scripts.
- Apply your engineering knowledge and participate as a member of a multi-discipline team
- Contribute to the completion of project/program milestones under the general guidance of the immediate supervisor and team leads.
- Following established SE processes and procedures.
What You Will Learn:
- As a Systems Engineer, you will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers in performing many core activities to include defining customer needs, developing functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques, system performance, integration, verification, and validation activities.
- You will learn various aspects of systems engineering, from proposal through requirements develop to architecture, functional analysis, design, and IV&V.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- This position requires 12 months or less of professional experience (excluding internships)
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Familiarity with tools, such as MATLAB or Python, for data analysis and automation
- Familiarity with Requirements Management tools such as DOORS and Cameo
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with tools, such as MATLAB or Python, for data analysis and automation

- Familiarity with Requirements Requirements Development, Functional Analsyis, System Life Cycle

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
