Join Our Team as a Direct Care Worker!
As a Direct Care Worker in our Residential Care Home, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our residents through compassionate, hands-on support. You’ll be accountable to the Supervisor/Manager and will work closely with a dedicated team of health professionals, contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of each resident.Key Responsibilities:

Quality Care for Residents:
- Report and document general observations, complete routine documentation, and conduct risk assessments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Identify and address the diversional therapy needs of individuals and groups, providing therapy in alignment with established programs.

Operational Efficiency:
- Set up, program, and operate machinery, equipment, and computerized systems while evaluating work organization methods and implementing detailed instructions.
- Offer guidance and support to colleagues and assist in on-the-job training for team members.

Knowledge and Skill Development:
- Participate in required training to maintain and enhance relevant skills and knowledge.

Quality Care for Residents:
- Provide personal care, including bed making, bathing, personal hygiene, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Use mechanical aids for transfers and lifting, and assist with communication aids (e.g., glasses and hearing aids).
- Maintain cleanliness in residents’ environments and equipment, distribute clean laundry, and ensure the neatness of personal spaces.
- Transport clients and assist those with special needs, providing input into client assessments and supporting self-administration of medication as authorized.
- Assist with routine treatments and provide in-home services as defined by the role.

Operational Efficiency:
- Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to enhance the health unit’s operations.

Knowledge and Skill Development:
- Participate in training to maintain and enhance the skills and knowledge necessary for the role.
What We’re Looking For:
WHA4- Qualification: Completed AQF Certificate III relevant to the position.
- Judgment & Initiative: Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in daily tasks.
- Direct Care Experience: Experience providing direct care services in a health-related field, particularly with aged, frail, or disabled individuals.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with software packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safe working conditions and commitment to customer service principles.
- Legislative Awareness: Knowledge of the principles of the Premier’s Safety Commitment and familiarity with Risk Management standards, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare legislation.
- Judgment & Initiative: Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in daily tasks.
- Computer Proficiency: Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Customer Service Commitment: Strong knowledge of and commitment to customer service principles.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of the Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare Act, along with risk management principles.
