The National Anti-Corruption Commission enhances integrity in the Commonwealth public sector by deterring, detecting and preventing corrupt conduct involving Commonwealth public officials. It does this through education, monitoring, investigation, reporting and referral.

About these opportunities
The NACC has two Senior Lawyer Corporate positions available for immediate filling in either Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.
About the role
Reporting to the General Counsel Corporate, you will be responsible for legal work that is not related to specific investigations or public inquiries.
Key activities
- advising in relation to the NACC Act (including on jurisdictional issues), workplace relations, commercial, governance, administrative law, and privacy matters,
- assessing and responding to Freedom of Information requests in accordance with applicable legislation,
- advising on the Commission’s delegations and authorisations,
- advising on legal reporting requirements,
- contributing to legal policy and reform,
- contributing to legal knowledge within the NACC and jurisdictional agencies through a commitment to continued legal education and training, and
- representing the interests of the NACC and helping to manage the NACC’s relationships with relevant stakeholders, internally and externally.
Position-specific Requirements
Essential:
- a degree in law from an Australian tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification and admission in Australia as a legal practitioner, and
- a practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one.
- a minimum of five years post-admission legal experience.
- experience in one or more relevant areas of law (corporate, commercial, workplace relations, freedom of information, governance).
Eligibility
Employment with the NACC is subject to the following conditions:
- Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.
- Suitability assessment - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
- Probation - a probation period will apply to a new ongoing engagement in the Australian Public Service.
