About the Position

Newington College has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Head of English to lead our highly accomplished English Faculty on a permanent, full-time basis, commencing in Term 1, 2025.

The College offers Senior students the option of either the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) and our student enrolment in English Extension 1 and 2 has grown significantly in the past three years. Additionally, from 2024, Year 9 students have the option to study Cambridge IGCSE World Literature.

At Newington, there is an emphasis on critical and creative thinking where teachers look to build positive classroom environments which foster a passion for the subject. The English Department is inspired by high quality and high impact teaching and learning and engages in ongoing professional learning and growth.
