The Canterbury Community Mental Health Service is committed to the provision of quality health services to the mental health community. We aim to lead through achievement and innovation in clinical practice, research, teaching, training and management. We are committed to developing the highest skills in our community mental health staff through the LHD’s pioneering Diploma of Mental Health program, structured workplace competency development program, and supervision programs.

You will be working closely with a multi-disciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrists, Advanced Trainee Specialists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers and Peer Support Workers to provide the best care to the community encompassing strengths based and trauma informed care principles.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Acute Care Service model of care provides:

Mental Health assessments to consumers within the community experiencing acute mental health problems (including a rapid response when indicated) and determining an appropriate pathway to care (e.g., community treatment; assist consumers access and admission to inpatient treatment).

Short term mental health treatment in the community often as an alternative to hospital.

In reach to hospital to promote effective follow up post mental health admission.

Collaborative care for consumers transferring between hospital and community.

The model provides short term mental health interventions in the community for consumers experiencing mental health distress. Once the symptoms have resolved and the presentation is no longer acute the team collaborate with other stakeholders for the most appropriate ongoing care and treatment.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Recognised nursing tertiary qualifications, current nursing registration with AHPRA.
Minimum of 2 years Post Graduate experience in Mental Health.
Demonstrated competencies to provide contemporary mental health practice.
Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
