Systems / Combat Systems Engineers

Saab Australia is one of three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (Co A) that make up the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CCA). As a collaborative enterprise the CSI-IPT CCA executes scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1).
About the role
The Systems / Combat Systems Engineers are responsible for contributing to the execution of prescribed systems engineering activities that will be applied to the upgrade packages developed under Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) to be installed on in-service Aegis Combat Systems equipped naval platforms within the RAN fleet.
Systems / Combat Systems Engineers will advise stakeholders on a range of systems engineering assignments and, as a member of a specialised domain team, perform a range of the following activities:
- Customer requirements elicitation
- Purpose and application of operational concept documents
- Purpose and application of function and performance specifications
- System architecture and interface design
- Requirements development and analysis
- System, sub-system design synthesis
- Formal trace of system, sub-system requirements
- Review and development of system, sub-system design documentation
- Application of safety, security, and human factors analysis
- Application of reliability, maintainability and availability analysis
- Development of technical performance measures
- Application of risk management principles
- Integration, verification and validation plans and strategies
- Verification of logistics and supportability analysis
- Application of system transition and training requirements.
Your skills, experience and qualifications will include:
- A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
- An active or re-instable AGSVA NV1 or NV2 clearance
- System-of-systems integration: using formal analysis to balance complex engineering trade space
- Integration, test and evaluation of combat systems (CS) Products into naval platforms or equivalent complex military systems
- Development methodologies on complex modern systems using a documented process
- Development and refinement of the verification cross reference matrix (VCRM)
- Development and refinement of the CS Functional an physical architectures
- Systems engineering lifecycle, methods, tools and techniques
- Engineering management, risk mitigation and business improvement methodologies
- Producing, analysing and interpreting highly complex reports and management information
- Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Preparing and presenting concise verbal and written reports, briefings and updates
- Ability to manage multiple, concurrent activities, with tight deadlines, while understanding and managing priorities, dependencies and risks
- Strong ability to adapt and maintain a flexible approach to changing needs or priorities
- Ability to access/handle ITAR/EAR controlled technology, data and information without restrictions.
